It’s not daring to say that Colin Farrell is an attractive man (watch him in scary night Or miami vice Or alexander), but it’s bold to say that Colin Farrell as The Penguin in 2022 The Batman is attractive. He’s covered in prosthetics, loses his hair, and has an overall vibe that makes it hard to remember Farrell’s natural sexiness. But newly released set photos from the upcoming HBO Max series The Penguin reveals a new look for Oswald Cobblepot, and it’s molto, molto bene. It’s sex appeal coded in Italian (Cobblepot is, I believe, of Austrian/Hungarian origin, so it’s not In fact Italian). It’s not dad, it’s dad.
Sure, the hair holds out for dear life, and the prosthetics always try to make Farrell look decidedly more penguinish, but that’s a far cry from The Penguin’s appearance in The Batman, all of which were suits and trench coats. This adjustment gives the first seasons of the Soprano Tony Soprano. It’s given to the man who owns the oldest Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, and they don’t do any of that fettuccine alfredo bullshit here, capisce?
In the photos, Penguin’s subtle v-neck t-shirt stretches across her ample chest and small curls of chest hair stick out over the cleavage as if saying “Ciao bella” to anyone. what a passerby. A basic but expensive leather jacket that he’s clearly custom-made coupled with the bling on his middle finger tells me a few things: he’s got money, he understands the importance of a well-tailored outfit and, most importantly , he is not married.

This man gets his manicure every week and graciously gives the nail technician a tip. This man chews a cigar with the anger of several generations of Italian blue-collar workers coursing through his veins. This man approached me while I was eating a plate of cacio and pepe on a starchy white tablecloth at his restaurant and ask if he can offer me a drink, and I’d say, “yes, please, I’d like an Aperol Spritz” under heavy lids. The Penguin limited series, which would take place right after the events of The Batman, does not yet have a set release date (it is scheduled for 2024). According Varietythe eight-episode series will also feature Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs), Rhenzy Feliz (Encanto), Michael Kelly (Jack Ryan), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The extent) and Clancy Brown (mountaineer) as crime boss Salvatore Maroni.
