Maserati has unveiled some first images and details of the new MC20 GT2 driver ahead of his official debut at the end of June at the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.
The Maserati MC20 GT2 marks a return to the FIA GT2 championship for the Italian manufacturer as the MC12 GT2 raced between 2004 and 2010.
Maserati has confirmed that the MC20 GT2 will be powered by a version of the road model’s 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine.

Although power outputs were not detailed, the Italian automaker says they will be taken “to the next level”. The road model currently produces 463 kW of power and 730 Nm of torque.
This twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine will be mated to a six-speed sequential racing transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The MC20 GT2 features an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber central monocoque with a lightweight, quick-release all-composite body for “good power-to-weight ratio”.
The curb weight was not detailed, but the road-going MC20 coupe weighs 1500 kg.
The aerodynamic elements of the MC20 GT2 have been “exploited to the limit” with a front splitter and an adjustable rear wing.
All suspension components are race oriented with adjustable shocks and anti-roll bars.
Inside, there’s a single seat, as well as a 10.0-inch display built into the carbon fiber dashboard.
The road-going Maserati MC20 was first unveiled in September 2020, with the convertible version unveiled in May last year.
As previously detailed, Maserati has confirmed that there will be an all-electric version of the MC20 to be revealed “in the future”.
Maserati has already committed to going all-electric by 2030 and will offer at least one pure-electric variant of each model offered by 2025.
